Amazon Echo Pop (1st Generation) Smart Speaker

Here is my review of the Echo Pop, 1st Generation. As someone who has dabbled in audio recording and now writes reviews of consumer electronics, it was a natural progression for me to do a review of a smart speaker. After all, ultimately (outside of live performances) speakers are responsible for the final delivery of recorded music; that is, the playback of streamed music, mp3, etc. The following is my mostly positive review of a great device, the Echo Pop smart speaker 1st Generation. First, here’s the bad part I discovered about this device. As far as I can tell, there’s no way to stream your iTunes library on the device without an Apple Music subscription. This means any music you’ve purchased on your iPhone isn’t available for playback on the device, at least very easily. There may be a workaround, but I haven’t found one. Similarly, both Youtube and YouTube music apps on my iPhone aren’t supported as streaming options on the Echo Pop. The apps that I see you can stream from via t...

Omezizy Bluetooth Thermal Label Printer

Rating Overall Satisfaction 5/5 I am happy with my purchase of the Omezizy Bluetooth Thermal Label Printer and recommend 100%. Performance 5/5 The Omezizy has extremely good performance as it prints extremely fast in a pleasant way. Features 5/5 The features are excellent. The fact I can load a roll in the machine itself or put a stack behind the machine is a very well thought out feature in particular. Ease of Use 5/5 This machine is exactly what I needed and I can use it without watching long videos or reading a lot of documentation. It just works. Quality and Durability 5/5  The machine is extremely durable and well built.  Value for Money 5/5 It is a great value for the price, which, at the time of writing, is just under $85. It was worth every penny to me. Customer Support - N/A I haven't had to contact customer support so I can't comment. Design - 5/5 The design is beautiful. It is a well thought out, well built machine that does exactly what it needs to. If ...

iPhone SE Series - A throwback to a classic time

The iPhone SE series is a line of affordable, compact smartphones from Apple. They offer powerful performance and the latest technology, despite their smaller size and lower price point. Each generation has built upon the previous one, introducing improvements like faster processors, better cameras, and 5G connectivity. The iPhone SE's retro design, featuring a home button and a smaller screen, sets it apart from the larger, more modern iPhone models. This unique blend of old and new has made the series a popular choice for those seeking a more classic smartphone experience.

Apple or Android?

Throughout the rapid growth of the smartphone, 2 styles, or brands of phones have remained constant in the technology of smart phones over time. Apple and Android are the two dominant forces in the smartphone industry due to their unique strengths and market strategies. The rise of Apple The iPod was a unique and interesting take on a traditional MP3 player. Apple seems to have taken the iPod and used it as a starting point for its first iPhones. This sparked the iPhone revolution. True to the Apple ecosystem of Mac products, Apple designs, manufactures, and programs it’s iPhones all themselves which, as we’ll get to later, is notable difference between Android, which is just an operating system used by a variety of seperate phone manufacturers.   Android's Ascent Google acquired Android in an attempt to enter the smartphone market in 2005. The open source nature of the Android operating system allows for manufacturers to use their own, or in some cases 3rd party parts and make the...

Death of Plasma

Image
Plasma screens are now a thing of the past. If you had a plasma screen in the early 2000’s, you had the latest technology of the time. Today, LCD and LED technology has replaced plasma screens. In this article, I’ll explore why that happened.   With LCD and LED televisions, we now have improved picture quality, energy efficiency, and thinner designed televisions. Comparing plasma televisions to their later counterparts shows that plasma televisions image quality, contrast ratio, and viewing angles are greatly improved with the advent of LCD and LED Technology.   Plasma screens struggled to support 4k and HDR standards. What’s more, there is also higher manufacturing cost associated with plasma screen televisions. As thinner, lighter, more energy efficient technologies took over, it left no room for the technology of the past. There was also the role of marketing influencing consumer choice. However, new developments in technology primarily led to the decline of plasma screen. ...
