iPhone SE Series - A throwback to a classic time

The iPhone SE series is a line of affordable, compact smartphones from Apple. They offer powerful performance and the latest technology, despite their smaller size and lower price point. Each generation has built upon the previous one, introducing improvements like faster processors, better cameras, and 5G connectivity.

The iPhone SE's retro design, featuring a home button and a smaller screen, sets it apart from the larger, more modern iPhone models. This unique blend of old and new has made the series a popular choice for those seeking a more classic smartphone experience.
As someone who has owned an iPhone for much of my adult life, I find the constant changing of features, such as the elimination of the home button in modern iPhone models, to make life more difficult rather than improve my phone experience. With the iPhone SE 2023, I don’t have to choose between modern tech and the features of the past. The iPhone SE 2023 combines the design of early model iPhones such as the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 8, while still providing the technical performance of modern smartphones.

The iPhone SE 2023 is based on the A15 Bionic Chip, which is the same processor found in the iPhone 13 series, according to Wikipedia’s article on the phone, found here: iPhone SE (3rd generation) - Wikipedia

Much of the same functionality exists in the phone that you’ll find exists in other recent phone models of the same generation, such as the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13. However, as someone who’s owned an iPhone 12, and then, subsequently, an iPhone SE 2023, one thing that stands out that is different about the iPhone SE 2023 is that it doesn’t unlock the phone using facial recognition. While some may find this is a drawback, I find it is much less invasive to use the old technology of the home button finger print to unlock the phone, and it is something that I very much enjoy about the phone.

Another feature that separates the iPhone SE series is the fact the phone has just one camera. This allows one to add external lenses without worry of switching to another camera that is placed elsewhere and missing a photo in a real time photo situation. While this may not seem like a big deal to some, imagine taking picture at a sporting event, such as a basketball game, and missing a very famous shot taken by a famous athlete, because your phone switched cameras and your additional lens blocked the photo you took to the point all you got for the photo was a black frame. This is the risk you run when you add additional lenses to a phone with multiple cameras. To be frank, it only really makes sense to get additional add-on lenses to a phone with one camera, such as the iPhone SE 2023.

In conclusion, the iPhone SE series, by way of the latest version (the iPhone SE 2023) continues to be a very functional phone which utilizes some of the latest technology in smartphones while keeping the design and features of phones from the past. The SE series is truly a retro version of the iPhone, while keeping things fresh in terms of processing speed and functionality for this new era. I look forward to, eventually, seeing what Apple comes up with next for the SE series, while I am happy to say I very much enjoy my iPhone SE 2023.
